In August 2018 researchers from the USA published the results of their study to assess whether the dietary intake of omega-3 fatty acids is associated with a lower incidence of headache. 12,317 individuals aged 20 years and over were included in the study. Over a 3-month period, the incidence of headache or migraine was recorded and information on the intake of eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid collected via 24-hour dietary recall. Results showed that a greater intake of eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid was associated with a lower incidence of severe headache or migraine.
