In February 2019 researchers from Singapore and the UK published their review of the medical scientific literature to assess the effect of yoga on maternal depression during pregnancy. A total of 6 studies, involving 405 pregnant mothers, were included in the review. Results showed that yoga had a significant beneficial effect on the mood of the pregnant women. However, it should be noted that most studies were preliminary, recruited only individuals with mild depression, and had relatively small sample sizes. Further studies are therefore required.
