In December 2018 researchers from the USA published their review of the medical scientific literature to assess the effectiveness and possible use of honey in disorders affecting the ears, nose and throat. A total of 63 studies were included in the review. Results showed that the highest quality evidence supported the use of honey for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis in cancer patients, cough associated with upper respiratory infection in children, and pain control after tonsillectomy.
