In August 2018 researchers from The Netherlands and Australia published the results of their study to assess whether wearing a soft knee brace produced any improvements in pain or knee instability in individuals with knee osteoarthritis. 44 individuals with knee osteoarthritis and self-reported knee instability were included in the study. Results showed that wearing a soft knee brace produced a decrease in pain levels and knee instability leading to individuals with knee osteoarthritis being able to increase their activity levels.
