In August 218 researchers from Italy published the results of their study to assess the effect of cannabis use on symptoms associated with various chronic pain diagnoses. A total of 338 patients with different chronic pain conditions were treated with a cannabis preparation for 12 months in addition to their usual pharmacological medication. Pain medications, pain intensity, pain disability, anxiety and depression were recorded at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months. Results showed that there was a reduction in pain intensity and pain disability as well as in symptoms of anxiety and depression following the use of cannabis.
